National anthem Vs Less nationalism
I almost forgot!....today is the Indonesia Independent’s day, I used to have tears whenever I heard this national anthem in my first year here in UK, but now listening to the lyrics and analyzed through my head it make me laugh, don't get me wrong..., I still love Indonesia, I have lots of relatives and friends over there, it’s just the situation after the 62 years of Independent and the system bothered me, and perhaps the system in Indonesia have failed many Indonesians many times big times, or perhaps I’m not an Indonesian citizen anymore...... I don't know but I still have good memories of the way of Indonesia celebrate the Independent day.
62 years since Indonesia liberated from the Dutch colonial, this country may have been liberated from the colonization, unfortunately, to many Indonesian the 62 years has been a long suffer socially, economically, mentally, in many cases also physically by the “new colonization”.
Merdeka…… or freedom was a magic word, but sadly the corruptions, nepotism, collusions, greedy conglomerates, and discriminations towards Christians and poor people are still very visible.
Freedom….? Ehmmmh, freedom from what?

Hi Matahari,
I lived in Belgium my whole life, and I suppose its a good country to live in, but I never had that "patriotic" feeling. I think I'm not meant to be a Belgian. lol
Thank you for pop in Rudy,
I won't say that I have the "patriotic" feelings LOL, it's quiet opposite.
If you not meant to be a Belgian, then what would you be?
